This Week at a Glance... Monday, October 26, 2015

Congratulations to the Boys' Volleyball team who went to a junior tournament at Blenheim High School last week and were the victors!

This week the volleyball team has a bye from league play. Therefore, they will practice Monday and Wednesday from 3:30-5 pm and Tuesday from 5-6:30 pm.

Girls' Basketball went to LKCS (Dresden) to play in a tournament and played very well. They won 1 out of 3 games but kept the scores very close. This week they practice Monday and Wednesday from 3:30-5 pm. On Tuesday they host LKCS (Dresden) at 5:30 pm and travel to Blenheim on Thursday.

Congratulations goes out to our Cross Country team!  Coach Patrick McNamara states that they ran last week in the LKSSAA Championship meet in Sarnia at Canatara Park. Our two runners Stewart Watson and Ainsley McNamara represented CCHS very well in the senior divisions.  Watson ran a challenging 7k course through the woods, over the hills, and past the farm. He ran very strong and finished with a great finishing kick to the finish line holding off his closest competitor. Great job Stew!
McNamara also ran strong in the competitive senior girls race finishing in the top 10 and qualifying for this week's SWOSSAA championship in Windsor on Wednesday (October 28th) at Malden Park. Like Watson, McNamara had to muster up a big finishing kick, and she did, charging from 150m out to catch a Sarnia Northern girl at the line and edge her by a tenth of a second. Great job Mac!

This Week at a Glance... Monday, October 19, 2015

The Boys' Volleyball team hosted a tournament at home on Friday. They did well winning their pool play. They lost in the semi-finals but had a good day. Thanks to the coaches for their extra efforts and to those who helped to score keep.
This week the guys practice today and Wednesday from 5-6:30 and on Tuesday from 3:30-5 pm. On Thursday the juniors will travel to Blenheim to play in a tournament.

The Cross Country team ran well at the "Meet of Champs" in Sarnia. Ainsley McNamara made the top 10. They will travel back to Sarnia on Wednesday (21st) for LKSSAA.

The Girls' Basketball team will host St Francis Xavier (Sarnia) on Tuesday at 5:30 pm and will travel to North Lambton S.S. on Thursday. They will also be playing in a tournament at LKCS (Dresden) on Friday and Saturday.

We found a Basketball coach for the upcoming boys' team!  Thanks and welcome to Jon Derksen!

The Cross Country team is off and running as I type this. They headed out to the "Meet of Champs" in Sarnia and are gearing up for LKSSAA next Wednesday in Sarnia as well.  Run like the wind team!!

Yesterday, the Girls’ Basketball team travelled to Pain Court and loss 35-31 to the league’s current first place team.  It was a close game and a tough one to lose.  They will travel to West Elgin to play an exhibition game on Thursday after school.  Practice is on Wednesday 3:30-5 pm.

The Boys’ Volleyball team travels to Tilbury today to play their league games.  It sounds like Cogeco TV may be there to check out the play tonight.  The team plays in the senior league but is made up of both seniors and some juniors.  Therefore, they go to some senior tournaments and some junior tournaments (with just the juniors).  Last week they went to a junior tournament at LKCS and played very well.  On Friday (16th) they host their own senior tournament.  The girls’ volleyball team will be running a concession stand so bring the family out for supper and enjoy the volleyball action!

On Thursdays (October 15 and 22) there is a Female Fitness Hour from 3:30-4:30 pm run by Mrs. Trish Sluys.  This is open to all females.

We are still looking for a coach for our Boys’ Basketball team.  This will start mid-November.   Please help spread the word and get in touch with Sharon Smith for more details: sharonsmith@chathamchristian.ca or 519-352-4980.

This Week at a Glance... Monday, October 5, 2015

The Fall Season is well underway at CCHS.  Tomorrow the Cross Country team travels to Waterloo for their Christian Schools Meet.  Go Flames!

The Girls' Basketball team continues to play hard in the senior division. They are 2-2 in the league. They host Blenheim tomorrow (Tuesday) at 5:30 pm and travel to Ridgetown on Thursday. Practice on Monday and Wednesday and possible scrimmage on Friday at our school.

Boys' Volleyball struggled in the Senior Tournament at LKCS last week... ending sooner than they had hoped. This Thursday they will go to a Junior Tournament at LKCS with the junior boys.  They host league games on Wednesday with play starting at 4:30 pm. Practice on Monday 5-6:30 and Tuesday 3:30-5 pm.

Female Fitness Hour will start in our gym on Thursday from 3:30-4:30 pm.  This is open to any female high school student interested in a work out led by Mrs. Trish Sluys.  Will run October 8, 15, 22.

We are still urgently seeking a Basketball coach for our boys' team which will start mid-November.  Please help spread the word and get in touch with me, Sharon Smith at the school.  sharonsmith@chathamchristian.ca or 519-352-4980.  Thank you!
