This Week at a Glance... Tuesday, November 17, 2015

Congratulations to the Boys' Volleyball team who made it all the way to the LKSSAA Finals! They played Blenheim last Friday evening. They played hard and it looked like they had a few chances to come out the victors against the league's first place team, Blenheim.  But in the end, they lost in 4 games. What a great season they had and great improvement since the start. Good work team and thanks to Coaches Richard Koomans and Dale Lahey!

We need the Boys' volleyball and Girls' basketball uniforms to be washed and returned to Mrs. Smith as soon as possible.  Thank you.

We are now moving into the Winter Sports. This year we plan on having a Boys' Basketball team (playing in the senior division) coached under Mr. Jon Derksen. As well as 2 girls' Volleyball teams: Seniors will be coached by Ingrid Lahey and Trish Sluys and Bryce Koomans.  Juniors will be coached by Dale Lahey and Sharon Smith.

Boys' Basketball first practice is tonight from 6:30-8pm and tomorrow (Wednesday) from 3:30-5pm.
Senior Girls' Volleyball continues their practices today from 3:30-5 and tomorrow 5-6:30pm.
Junior Girls' Volleyball starts practices tonight from 5-6:30 and tomorrow 5-6:30 pm.

No practices on Thursday or Friday due to the gym being used by the Bazaar.

This Week at a Glance.... Tuesday, November 10, 2015

Congratulations to the Girls' Basketball team for an excellent showing at Christian Schools on the weekend!  They ended up in 4th place overall... this is a historic placing for our school!  Way to go, Flames!  Unfortunately, Jillian Ball broke her ankle the first day of play... heal fast Jillian! The girls then had to play with 6 people on day two.  Way to work ladies and coach Mr. Berlemont and special assistant, Mr. Christensen.
Unfortunately, the girls lost their Quarter Finals game on Thursday to North Lambton 39-27.
Overall, it was a good season with the young team.  Many thanks to Mr. Ron Berlemont for his efforts with the girls!

The Boys' had a tough time at Christian Schools. They had some really good games and some really difficult games.  While they had a disappointing finish with losing in the semifinals of the B Flight, overall they had a very fun weekend!
Last night they hosted ESPC in the league's Quarter Finals and won this in 3 straight games.  They will now travel to St. Francis Xavier on Wednesday to play in the Semi's.  Games start at 3:30 pm.  Finals will be on Friday of this week.

Girls' Volleyball starts this week.  Senior Girls' will start practice Tuesday at 3:30 pm, Wednesday and Thursday 3:30-5 pm.  Junior Girls' will start practice on Thursday 3:30-5 only if the Boys' Volleyball is finished... otherwise they will start Tuesday, Nov 17 5-6:30 pm.

Boys' Basketball is tentatively scheduled to start Tuesday, Nov 17th from 6:30-8 pm with Coach Jon Derksen.

This Week at a Glance... Girls' Basketball... Monday, November 2, 2015

This is an important week in the Girls' Basketball season...

Girls' Basketball has their last league game on Tuesday. They host Ridgetown with game time at 5:15 pm. Depending on the result of this game, they will either be in 5th or tied for 4th. With their Quarter Finals game on Thursday, the result of Tuesday's game will likely determine if they host or travel for the Quarter finals.  Practice on Monday and Wednesday 3:30-5 pm.

Then on Friday morning they will travel to Hamilton for OCSSAA (Christian Schools' Tourney). This is a much loved tournament by players and coaches alike.
