This Week at a Glance... Monday, December 14, 2015

The volleyball and basketball teams are going full blast right now with league games and tournaments.

Boys' Basketball, as a young team in the Senior division, they are learning lots and playing hard.  They have been close in many games.  Check out the LKSSAA webpage for scores.  This week they practice on Tuesday from 5-6:30 and have a home game on Thursday against LKCS at 5:30 pm.

Senior Girls' Volleyball played hard in a tournament at St. Clair in Sarnia with only 6 players.  Reports are that they played well and had fun but unfortunately lost in the Quarter Finals (by 2 points).  They had a league schedule change and so played last week.  Some of the games that they play on league nights are scheduled exhibition games so although they played 6 games last week, only 4 count for league standings.  Therefore, the are currently 3-1.
This week they practice on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-5.

Junior Girls' hosted a tournament last Friday.  They played really well and are really starting to learn the new system and are playing with more confidence.  Well done ladies!
They also played in league last week and are at a 3-1 standings.
This week they host league games on Monday starting at 4 o'clock.  They will practice on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-5 pm.

I would like to take a moment to thank the students that help with score keeping for the different events that we host here at CCHS.  This includes volleyball tournaments, league play and basketball league play.  You guys and girls are great supporters and it is greatly appreciated!  At this past tournament, I had a referee comment at how good the score keepers were: they knew what they were doing and stayed focused.  Good job and thanks for the help!!

The Winter Sports are well under way....

Congratulations to the Senior Girls' Volleyball team for winning their tournament this past Friday. They hosted Blenheim, Tilbury, Wallaceburg, and Alexander MacKenzie in a season opener tournament and the Flames played Wallaceburg in the Finals, pulling out a win.  Congrats team!
The league schedule has been revised so the seniors now have league games this week Wednesday at LKCS (Dresden). Games start at 4 so they will be leaving the school at 3 pm. Practices this week are Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-5. On Friday they travel to Sarnia to play in a tournament at St. Clair.

The Junior Girls' Volleyball team had travelled to Dresden last Friday to participate in a season opener tournament as well. Things really started to click for the team who is learning a whole new system. It was a great tournament to try things out and to get into the swing of things. First league games for the juniors are also on Wednesday when they will travel to Blenheim. Practices on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-5 pm. The Junior Girls will host a tournament at home on Friday. C'mon out and cheer on the Flames!

The Boys' Basketball team had a rough start facing the always tough Blenheim Bobcats in their first home game last week. On Thursday they travelled to Tilbury to play in a more balanced game. Today they travel to SCITS and on Thursday they will host Ridgetown.  Practice on Wednesday from 3:30-5 pm.

There are still some volleyball guys who need to get their uniforms in to Mrs. Smith. Please do so TODAY!
