Congratulations to our Track team members who competed at the OFSAA Regionals meet. It was some tough competition in Cambridge last Friday and Saturday. Athletes had to finish in the top 4 to qualify for the OFSAA Championships in Windsor.
Amy Koomans competed in the Senior Girls' High Jump. She finished just a little out of the top 4 but her season best has her tied for a senior girls' top 10 jump in the entire province. Great season Amy!
Adeleene Thompson also was in high jump for the junior girls. She had a personal best jump of 1.5m and placed 2nd! She is OFSAA bound!
Carolyn Prins had a superb day in the Triple jump and the Long jump. She had a huge personal best Triple jump of 11.60m to blow away the competition and had a big season best 5.35m in the Long jump to come in 2nd to last year's OFSAA champ. Way to go girls!
OFSAA for Track is in Windsor this week on Thursday-Saturday.

qualify).
Carolyn Prins jumped 1st in triple with a

for Regionals.
Daniel Burggraaf threw a
personal best in javelin breaking 33 metres and was a strong and consistent

maintained his ranking in discus against some tough competition.
Great job Flames! Thanks to

The Boys' Soccer Season has come to an end. They travelled to Oakville on Friday/Saturday for the Christian Schools Tournament. They played hard and faced some very tough competition. They were quite pleased to pull off a win against PRC. Friday was a great day for playing... Saturday was wet and cold! Coach Steve Kloostra had many words of praise for the team. Thanks to Coach Steve and Josh Norg for your efforts with the team this year!
Guys... get your uniforms in to Mrs. Smith please... there's a competition for you guys to hand it all in before the girls' team does!!
The Girls' Soccer Season has also come to an end. They travelled to Redeemer College University to play in the Christian Schools Tournament. They also played hard and faced some very tough competition especially considering a number of our players had never played soccer before. The team was very excited to have scored not only their first goal of the season but their second goal as well! Thank you so much to Coaches Karen Koomans and Brian Roffel for their efforts with the team! It sounds like the weekend was a lot of fun!

This Week at a Glance... Tuesday, May 3, 2016
Track and Field had a good meet on Saturday in Windsor. It started out decent weather but than later in the day it got cold and wet. An added dimension to the challenges of Track and Field! The team held their own and represented CCHS well. Good on ya Flames! This week they have the LKSSAA All Comers Meet at 3:30 on Wednesday and travel to St. Thomas on Saturday for the Kettle Creek meet. Please check with your coach on practice times/days.
Badminton:
The Junior and Senior Badminton team (one team from each division) traveled to Brock University last weekend for the Christian Schools tournament. It was a good weekend with lots of good play and fun for some players to see the Niagara Falls for the first time on Friday night. No one made it to the playoffs but overall a great weekend.
Thanks to coaches Dale Smith, Kevin Wolting, Dale Lahey and Brian Koomans. Also thanks to the assistants and alumni Cam Koomans and Alyson Bierling for helping to coach at this final tourney. And to Michelle Koomans for chaperoning as well.
Badminton players please hand in your clean shirts to Mrs. Smith.
Girls' Soccer:
The season is well underway with only 2 more league games to play. They do not have games this week but rather practiced early this morning and will again practice on Thursday after school.
Boys' Soccer:
The guys are also well into their season but have less teams in their league then the girls and therefore are playing more games. Today they travel to NLSS (Forest) to play at 3:30 and on Thursday they will host LKCS at 4 pm.
Last week our school enjoyed the Celebration of Learning evening and to showcase the sports that we participate in here at CCHS, we hung pictures of each team. It was a reminder to me what dedicated and passionate coaches we have here for our student athletes. It takes a lot of time and effort from a coach and they do it willingly and eagerly. Many have different reasons for coaching but we are thankful for them all. We are also thankful to their families for "allowing" and supporting their loved one who is a coach. If you see a coach today... give 'em a big THANK YOU!! :)
