Congratulations to the Junior Girls' Volleyball team who had won SWOSSAA Finals against Tecumseh Vista in 3 games straight. The team went as far as they could at the Junior Level. Good job!
The Senior Girls' Volleyball team had unfortunately lost in the Semi Finals of SWOSSAA against SFX of Sarnia. A disappointing finish for what had been a very successful season. Good work on the season ladies!
A BIG thank you to all the Coaches of the Winter Sports... Mr. Kevin Wolting, Mr. Steve Kloostra, Mr. Ben Nydam, Mr. Pete Watson, Mrs. Ingrid Lahey, Mr. Richard Koomans, Mrs. Trish Sluys, Mr. Alex Sluys, and me too.  :P
The Coaches and players are now gearing up for the Spring Sports. Badminton has started with Dale Smith, Kevin Wolting, Jon Mark and Brian Koomans at the helm. Track and Field have Patrick McNamara and Jessica Brooks. Boys' Soccer is with Roger Grootenboer and Steve Kloostra. And it looks like there will be a Girls' Soccer team formed for the Christian School Tournament... we are still looking for a head coach for this team.

It started with the Junior Boys’ Basketball team who played in the Kent Quarter Finals against Lambton-Kent. It was a tough game with the final score of 26-16 for LKCS. Many thanks to Steve Kloostra, Peter Watson, Ben Nydam, and Dave Baker for coaching and helping out the team during the season.

The Senior Boys’ Basketball team won their Semi Finals game against Ridgetown with a score of 54-38 and went on to play against Blenheim for the Kent Title. They played hard but lost against BDHS with the score at 48-31. Thanks to Kevin Wolting for coaching the team.
The Junior Girls’ Volleyball team hosted Kent Finals on Friday playing Lambton Kent. The ladies won in 3 straight games (best of 5) which moves them on to the SWOSSAA Semi Finals (South Western Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association). This will take place in Forest against North Lambton High School on Wednesday, Feb 19th at 6 pm. If the ladies win, then they will continue on Friday for the SWOSSAA Finals against Tecumseh Vista.

The Senior Girls’ Volleyball team also hosted Kent Finals on Friday evening playing the Blenheim Bobcats. Congratulations to the Senior Boys’ Basketball team for a well-played tournament on the weekend.  They were at the OCSSAA tournament in the Hamilton area. They made it to the B Flight Finals where they lost to Rehoboth by 6 points in overtime! A tough loss considering they had beat Rehoboth the day before, however, Dylan Wymenga reports that the team played well and had an excellent weekend.

And congratulations to the Junior Girls’ Volleyball team for playing really well on Saturday in their own tournament. They made it to the finals of the 8-team tournament where they had to face the CKSS Junior team. Our girls were able to rally themselves up to the challenge and gave them a run in the 2nd game but in the end CK won.
They have their last of the league play on Wednesday in Tilbury with games starting at 4:30 pm. The girls are currently in first place with 13 wins and 3 losses. Practices this week are Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-5 pm.

Both Basketball and Volleyball starts Playoffs next week. Quarter Finals for Volleyball are on Monday (if necessary) and for Basketball on Tuesday.  Semi-finals for Volleyball are on Wednesday and for Basketball on Thursday. Kent Finals for Volleyball is on Friday and for Basketball on Saturday.

Hockey!!! Yup, you read that right! The guys formed a hockey team again this year and played in an exhibition game against ESPC (Pain Court) yesterday. The game ended up in a 3-3 tie. It was a great warm-up for the team who plans to travel to Hamilton on Thursday to participate in the OCSSAA tournament. Thanks to Coaches Roger Grootenboer and Steve Kloostra and to staff Jon Mark for making this happen. Thank you also to Heynink Construction’s for lending of the jerseys.
