At the Track meet they battled some wind and dark clouds but
overall had some fine results on the first day of the Kent County Championship
track meet.
Ainsley McNamara was 1st in the 1500m, Rachel
Hoekstra was 1st in the SR girls 1500m, Kyle Maerz was 4th
and Justin McNamara was 2nd in the Sr. Boys 3000m, Jono Koomans was
2nd in the High Jump, Amy Bultje was 2nd in the High
jump, Krissy Brooks was 3rd in the Triple jump and Amy Koomans was 1st
in the triple jump, Victoria Koomans was 2nd in the shot-put, Sandy
Hakiza and Sam DeBoer were both top 4 in the women’s javelin and we had some
great performances and some personal best by Brandon Koomans and Jillian
Ball.
Then on Day 2 they did another great job!
Rachel Hoekstra and Ainsley McNamara were “meet champions” –
they both won all three of their events (800m, 1500m, and 3000m). Amy
Koomans added a 2nd in the high jump and long jump to her accomplishments,
Justin McNamara added a 2nd in the 2000m steeplechase and Kyle Maerz
added a 3rd in the steeple and a 2nd in the 1500m, (in a
personal best time). Dylan Wymenga was 3rd in the Sr. boys
100m; Jonathan Koomans placed 1st in the triple jump, 2nd
in the 400m and 2nd in the high jump. Victoria Koomans was 2nd
in the shot, discus and Javelin; Andrea Rintjema placed 3rd in the
800… and we had other personal best performances against some tough competition
by Jillian Ball in the throws (shot disc and javelin), Brandon Koomans in the
throws, Stewart Watson in the 800 & 1500m and Dana Goin in the 200m.
Great job everyone!
