Track and Field update from SWOSSA... Thursday, May 21, 2015

The track team competed at the South West Ontario championships meet.  This meet includes all high schools (A-AAAA) and athletes need to place in the top 5 to qualify for the OFSAA West Regional meet. … And CCHS had some great performances including Carolyn Prins placing 2nd in the long jump and a close 3rd in the 100m dash, Nate Dam ran a great race to place 5th in the 100m hurdles, Stephane Brooks competed in the shot put, Amy Koomans placed 3rd in the high jump, Amy and Krissy Brooks just missed the top 5 in the triple jump, Justin McNamara ran a big personal best and place 3rd in the Steeple chase.  His time of 6:19 is 13 seconds faster than the school record set in 1997 by Joel Klooster, and last but not least our 4x100m relay of Kate Taekema, Stephanie Brooks, Adeleene Thompson and Carolyn Prins ran an incredible 2 seconds faster than ever before!  Great Job everyone!

Some of the athletes continue today at U of Windsor for the second day of competition.
